Rice’s fervent “fire and brimstone” messages could be scary
but it's the bird drawing on the inside of the front cover that sold me
and wear to the mounting plate from a good bit of knocking
And it really feels quite luxurious at about 7 3/4 inches tall--as much as a small modernist sculpture as a folk carving
with a couple of tiny knicks in the glaze around the lip

I love the spare, elemental form of it, tapering to sharp point of a tail, and with just the right amount of a sway to the belly that its head floats above the ground as if just gliding through space.
